STEP Program
The Summer Trial Enrollment Program brings a select group of high school graduates to campus for a trial period, which enables them to qualify for regular admission for the fall semester. -
School Counseling
One of seven programs in the Department of Counselor Education. In accordance with the department's ongoing commitment to provide a rigorous and relevant training program, three new courses are being added to the program to add to the development and implementation of the master's degree.

Science Center
The Science Center is a product of a $22 million renovation connecting Sherman and Wohlleben Halls. It houses accessible, modern teaching labs, tech-smart classrooms, a 130-seat auditorium, a park-like atrium and an exhibition hall. -
Semester of Service
Semester of Service is a unique opportunity for UD undergraduate students to take a semester away from classes and serve full-time in non-profit centers for inner-city children and teens, individuals who are homeless, and neighborhoods undergoing revitalizations.

Senior Class Gift
The year-long campaign promotes the UD motto to learn, lead, and serve, endorsing philanthropy as a commitment to service. The Senior Class Gift supports the Q.U.E.S.T. scholarship, the only scholarship to be strictly from seniors and going to a senior student.

Sherman Hall
Sherman Hall, renovated in 2003, houses the departments of physics, mathematics and biology. The front of the building features a Foucalt pendulum that maintains motion from the Earth's rotation. -
Sigma Alpha Iota
Sigma Alpha Iota, an International Music Fraternity with over 86,000 initiated members, is a Greek music fraternity for women. It is an organization whose purposes are to foster interest in music and to promote social contact among persons sharing an interest in music.

Sigma Chi
Sigma Chi is the University of Dayton's largest social fraternity. The Iota Theta Chapter, received its charter on August 27, 1988. The purpose of Sigma Chi Fraternity is to cultivate an appreciation of and commitment to the ideals of friendship, justice, and learning.

Soccer, Men's Club

Soccer, Women's Club
This organization is open to any female athletes who have had prior soccer experience. Conditioning and tryouts for the team are held at the beginning of each school year. Practices are held three times a week and almost all games are played on weekend days. -

Sociology

South Student Neighborhood
The South Student Neighborhood, known to most as "the Ghetto," houses nearly 1,700 UD students on 25 blocks of tree-lined streets. The spirit of the neighborhood is symbolized through the gathering of students to study, talk, eat, drink, sleep, and enjoy those around them.

Speech and Debate Team
The Speech and Debate Team is an academic club that competes in intercollegiate tournaments. The club is affiliated with the National Educational Debate Association (NEDA) which upholds the style of public speaking taught in the classroom. -
Sport Management
One of five majors in the Department of Health and Sport Science. The Sport Management Program prepares students for professional opportunities in sport event and facilities management, careers with clubs, sports organizations/federations, newspapers, television, and in numerous areas of private and public recreation.

St. Joseph Hall
One of the most treasured architectural achievements on campus, St. Joseph Hall houses the social sciences, including the departments of sociology, anthropology and social work, political science, psychology, criminal justice and communication. -
St. Mary Hall
Constructed in 1870, St. Mary Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. St. Mary Hall houses the administrative offices of the president, provost, graduate school, human resources, financial affairs and development. -
Stander Symposium
Honoring the late Bro. Joseph W. Stander, S.M., professor of mathematics and provost (1974–1989), the Stander Symposium celebrates academic excellence, rich collaborations and many forms of intellectual, artistic and spiritual growth. All students engaging in research, creative endeavors and other forms of innovative thinking are encouraged to participate in this undergraduate and graduate research symposium.

Street Sounds

Stuart Complex houses approximately 650 first-year students. Students are housed in one of three wings: Adele, Meyer, or Sheehy. Special interest rooms are available. Each room has two single beds, closet space, desks, and a sink.
